Valentine’s Birthday

I awoke and thought Yes – Sunshine, clear sky and calm lake. The forecast was for good weather and I was hoping it would deliver after the last few days of rain.  I pulled up the blinds and just enjoyed the lake view of Lake Dunstan and a cup of tea.

Ross spoilt me with some lovely pressies and cooked pancakes and we sat outside and ate these with fresh fruit salad and yoghurt. Yummm. This was shaping up to be a pretty perfect birthday.

It was lovely to receive lots of txts from family and friends. Its quite fun having my birthday on Valentine’s Day as it certainly helps people to remember including my sons.

Next it was time to get ready to met one of my sons and his partner on the other side of the lake at Northburn Station vineyard for lunch.  The cafe is called ‘The Shed’. For a newly opened place it had  well laid out grounds and we enjoyed sitting outside in the sun drinking our wine and having lunch. It was a real treat and something different to have your birthday lunch at a vineyard, as its not something you can do in Dunedin. It was also lovely to spend part of my birthday with family.

We went back to the lake and relaxed until it was time to go to Ross’s sisters for tea.  We sat outside chatting and I had a couple of glasses of bubbly, as you do on your birthday. We had BBQ lamb which is a particular favourite of mine.  As it was a beautiful evening, we went for a walk, now was that before or after the gorgeous trifle, with cherries soaked in liqueur. Propably after.

My birthday and a very enjoyable day was brought to a lovely conclusion with a birthday cake.
