Waitati and Wanaka Week

Wanaka

Saturday 25th September was a better sort of day. And a moving on sort of day. With a stop in town for catching up and stocking up, we headed over the hill to Waitati and sunshine. We stayed with friends there after helping prune their entrance-way.  We enjoyed their hot tub which was fairly hot. Sunday was a sunny day with a leisurely start. Later I tried out my sheep herding techniques and we got to help a bit with tailing their lambs – all 8 of them. Laura came for the night which included the movie Boy which we all enjoyed.

Monday was another slow start and it was afternoon before we headed off to Wanka via Palmerston. It was a nice day for a drive through Central and we called in to visit a friend in Alexandra before finally getting to Wyn’s son’s place near Wanaka a bit after 7pm. In time for venison for tea.

The weather was still a bit stormy while we were there but mostly the rain seemed to stay up the lake or skirt around us. We had a wander around town on Tuesday with Wyn’s grand-daughter and Wednesday Wyn went fishing by the river with her and her son. Thursday was hanging around and Wyn went for a walk with them and the dogs before a lovely roast dinner.

Friday we headed off, via Wanaka to collect our mail. We got blown down to Pisa Moorings and parked up there at my sisters place for the night to catch up with Alaine and Murray. Saturday was another late start and another drive, back to Dunedin and Wingatui via the Ida Valley and the Pigroot and Waitati to pick up the car.
