Garden Marlborough Fete and Friends

Garden Marlborough Fete

After our short (5-day) spell at the motels in early November we retired to park up at the Racecourse. Friends Rudy and Heather crossed over from Wellington and parked up nearby. We invited them over for tea and had a good catchup.  We noticed that they had bikes with them so dusted off ours. It was more a case of brushing off the cobwebs to be honest. We all headed off for a ride up the Taylor River. There is a good long concrete path up both sides of the river.  Later we drove around a few of the wineries over near Renwick and then it was time for fish and chips for tea.

Next day was another bike ride along the Taylor River and tea at their place. Sunday morning they took off to Nelson. It was a lovely day and we headed into town to the Garden Marlborough Fete. This was the conclusion of a big week of garden tours and all things garden-like.

The fete was in Seymour Square which is a wonderful location. There were zillions of stalls and squillions of people so it took us about 4 hours to get round them all. It was shoulder-to-shoulder shuffling for a start. It was warm and the sun was shining and there was a lovely atmosphere with the whole thing.

We tired of it all eventually and headed back to home at the racecourse. Just to show that the previous rides were no fluke, we got back on our bikes and repeated the zoom up and down the Taylor River again.  The next day was Monday and Wyn was having trouble with her neck/back so took herself off to the Physio. Maybe it is true that exercise is dangerous? We had a look around town for some new cushions for Suzi. Inspired by Rudy and Heathers new motorhome decor we decided Suzi needed some zinging up.  We found just what we were looking for in Briscoes . Cheap and colourful.

Tuesday we moved to the bowling club to park up. We can park there for longer periods and it’s closer to the motels where we were starting work the next day. That evening was warm and calm and we made the most of it. We walked up to the Rotary Lookout in the nearby Wither Hills. It was almost dark by the time we got back. We’d made the most of our week and had made a start on getting going again with our walking and biking.
