500 Posts Later – A Bloggy Milestone

Wyn Papamoa Beach

Crikey! This is the 500th post on this blog thing. It seems like a milestone worth a bit of reflection. This all started back in May 2008 as something to record our motorhome adventures for family and friends to see where we were and what we were up to. That has remained the theme, with a few rants and side-tracks creeping in now and then. Along the way it has become a record of some of the many wonderful, lovely, beautiful, interesting parts of New Zealand that we have been lucky to visit and explore.

There’s 1,044 photos posted so far. Given how photos were not part of early posts, they have become a bigger part. If pictures are worth a thousand words, just imagine how much blather you have been spared 🙂

It has always intrigued me that the most viewed post is one about an international artist’s exhibition in Christchurch in October 2010. Photos of Ron Mueck’s extraordinary sculptures remain the most viewed out of everything. Which is nice because they are a series I am proud of.

A pictorial record of a New Zealand outdoor adventure is not far behind in number of views. Our August 2010 walk to Sawcut Gorge in Marlborough is our other most-viewed story.

It’s been fun sharing all sorts of amazing and surprising corners of New Zealand. And thanks for the support and encouragement.

  1. Congratulations!!! 500 posts is no mean feat. And we love your photos as you travel around our beautiful country.

This blogging takes committment, doesn’t it, but it is fun to look back and see where you have been, what you have done and seen. And now and again we get to meet up with fellow bloggers. Always a privilege after following their travels in blog land for a while.

Hello Ross and Wyn. I’ve just come across your “Motor Home Page” blog of your New Zealand travels. I’m a NZMCA member also athough currently living in Abu Dhabi, UAE. When we get home in a couple of years we’ll buy a motorhome and “hit the road” so it’s inspiring to read your blog. I’ve ticked the “Notify me of new posts by email” box below. Is this how I get your latest post ? Thanks. Regards, Graeme Ward

Thanks – and good on you 🙂 I imagine a bit of a contrast Abu Dhabi vs NZ? And yep, I think ticking that box will get you email notifications. Which reminds me, it’s been a while since the last one ….

I’d send you some sun but we’re in the last throws of winter here (October to March) – yesterday’s temperature was 32C. Not particularly looking forward to summer temperatures of 45 to 50C, but there’s plenty of air conditioning !
    Regards
    Graeme

Thanks Graeme. I meant to followup on the blog you mentioned. But before I did I came across it looking for information for the post I made today. So now I do have a link to it. Thanks for the pointer.
      Regards
      Ross
