To the Top at Tekapo

Tekapo from Mt JohnAfter our visit to Mt Cook it was time to be moving on. The weather forecast was a bit uncertain with mention of snow so we figured on getting further north, east, and lower – in that order. We headed on to Lake Tekapo and made a bee-line for Mt John. Mt John is where the observatories are for viewing the stars; by the scientists and the public. It is also where there is a great wee cafe. And where there is a wonderful view – the whole 360 degrees thing.

So we enjoyed a coffee and the view. And the weather, which was perfect; no wind and sunny so almost warm. We even got a look at the sun and Venus through telescopes.
