Birthday Boy

After our 6 hours of work the previous day, we had another day off. It wasn’t that we were worn out, it was my birthday. We decided that it’d be nice to not have to work for this birthday, so we didn’t. First there was a cup of tea in bed. And then very yummy pancakes and real fruit salad for breakfast. And presents. Wyn had done a speed-shopper zoom through the Warehouse on our way out of Tauranga the day before. And managed to find their last Antony and the Johnsons CD, not that they’d heard of him. And there were other goodies, including some yummy Belgian chocolates – have I mentioned my admiration for the obvious skill and dedication of the Belgians to their chocolate making.
We went into Katikati to recce for somewhere for tea. And bought some yummy scones and muffins for lunch from a cafe. It was a sunny day and nice to be able to relax and enjoy it. Later we went for tea at the restaurant at the local hotel – and it was very nice. They are proud of their seafood chowder, and now I can see why. It was right up there with the best I’ve ever tasted. We had a lovely relaxed evening and it was a perfect ending to a great day.
