Magical Mystery Tour At Mimiwhangata

MimiwhangataWhile we were staying at Oakura Bay on the Whangaruru Harbour last week we went in the car for an explore south, to Mimiwhangata Coastal Park which is at the upper end of the Tutukaka Coast.  It is at the end of a winding gravel road. This is a Department of Conservation Reserve that is run as a working farm. There are tracks around the beaches and bush parts and through the farm bits. But quite where they start and finish and join up is often a mystery, in best DoC fashion. It makes it more like orienteering and gives a sense of achievement when you get back to where you started.

Kupe Bay Mimiwhangata Coastal Park – which meant we’d found our way back again.

It was a nice wee adventure in a lovely little park in just about the middle of nowhere.
