Having circumnavigated The Mount of Mt Maunganui while Suzi motorhome got lubricated, and with the sun shining, we were keen to get out of Dodge City. I got the job of getting Suzi through her six-monthly Certificate of Fitness while Wyn went shopping for essentials – groceries and wool. And then we met up at the river just north out of Tauranga for lunch and zoomed on to Waihi Beach. There we’re allowed to park up near the beach at the north end – it’s an Easter to Labour Weekend thing. Dashed decent and thanks Western Bay of Plenty District Council and local residents. Thanks for sharing your wonderful beach and town.
After a walk on the beach and a relaxing evening and another walk on the beach in the morning – we were starting to feel relaxed. Well-earned, and good. Last time we here here, in April, while relaxing with Google maps, we’d realised there was a small dam behind the houses above the beach. This time we set out for an explore, and sure enough, there is a small dam behind the houses above the beach. It’s quite a wee gem.
That afternoon friends passing through headed north called in for a cup of tea and a walk on the beach. It’s a good place for that sort of thing.
